Community Involvement
Through various fundraising activities during the year, the Correctional Training Facility (CTF) has raised over $22,000 for the American Cancer Society (ACS).
On Oct. 8, CTF Facility B Yard held a Relay for Life fundraiser during which incarcerated men, staff and volunteers helped raise $2,147. All funds raised during the event were donated to American Cancer Society (ACS).
The event featured games, guest speakers, a check presentation, the Relay for Life walk around the recreational track and the display of a city made out of paper origami art.
A total of 536 men housed on Facilities A and B Complexes participated in the event.
The following additional fundraisers were held at CTF for the American Cancer Society:
Total amount of donations raised at CTF this year for ACS is $22,862.32.
According to Nancy Valdez, ACS Program Director, CTF’s donation total for this year is the largest institutional donation they have ever received. The CTF donation helped the ACS exceed their yearly goal of $300,000.
Staff coordinators for the events are Teresa “Terri” Pena, CRT; and Norma Calderon, PSA.
